Power Player Academy Forges Official Link with Premier League Club Power Player Academy and Sunderland Associated Football Club, England have signed an agreement to establish an official link between the two organisations. The Coaching and Player Development Agreement covers the training of Academy players by Sunderland Academy coaches each season, travel to the Academy of Light for teams and individual players and education of Power Academy coaches by Sunderland. Six Power Academy players will travel to Sunderland on March 15, 2010 for training and assessment. The agreement also forms the basis of ongoing options by Sunderland AFC to signing Power Players and training compensation related to this. The agreement was signed by Steve Walton, CEO of Sunderland AFC and Liam Power, President and Owner of Power Soccer Inc, the soccer school which forms the player pool of the Power Player Academy.
Ged McNamee, the Academy Manager with Sunderland commented: “Further to my trip to Toronto to visit the Power Academy and work with boys who attend the Academy on my return to Sunderland I felt it was important that Sunderland forged a link with a professionally run Academy that offer good coaching in a friendly supportive environment. An association that would benefit both parties, but more importantly give the boys an opportunity to visit and experience the Sunderland Academy development programme. With a long term objective to develop players who can enter the Sunderland Academy programme” Sunderland AFC is a Barclays Premier League club based in the north of England.
