Fall Challenges Wrap Up; Cup Finals On Deck
Another great weather weekend for soccer saw the entire SAAC program hit the fields for two days of competition as the 8-month SAAC outdoor season nears its completion.
The weekend saw the end of a successful set of 2011 Fall Challenges, as the U9s and U12 competed at Joan of Arc in Maple, Ontario. Both groups had 7 teams that brought fans a number of intense, competitive matches.

In the U12 division, ANB started strong and cruised to first place in the Round Robin portion, but in the final, a determined and skilled Power Player squad held them scoreless and forced the game to penalties. ANB did eventually prevail after 9 kicks from the spot.
In the U9 division, Maccabi Toronto put forward a strong showing, with both its teams making it to the final, that was also decided in penalty kicks. It was a fine showing from one of our newest members.

There was plenty of other action on the weekend as well. With a few games still to play, both the Junior and Senior Boys Academy League regular season titles were claimed. A 7-3 victory over Score Soccer on Saturday was enough to clinch the Jr. Boys League title for ANB Futbol Jr. They will try to make it a clean sweep when they face Toronto Skills in the Cup finals this Saturday at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium (1:15pm KO).

Sigma C1 clinched the Sr. Boys crown with 4 points over the weekend. A 2-2 tie with ANB Futbol and 1-0 victory over Sigma C2 was enough to take the title with a game to spare. Sigma C2 will try to bring a second title to the Mississauga-based Academy when they hit the field against Bryst FA Sr on Saturday for the Sr. Boys Cup Finals. Kickoff is 3:15pm at Etobicoke Centennial Stadium.
The SAAC development programs wrap up on Sunday at Joan of Arc, after which the young players at the 12 members Academies will get some well-deserved time off.
