On Saturday evening June 12th, 2010, the European Coaches delivered a two hour lecture/open forum on their youth system of development in their respective clubs / federations. To summarize:

- Francois Rodrigues elaborated on the strength of Caen’s formation system in producing top level professionals.
- Guillaume Du Moulin said that North America’s football/soccer is in forward motion.
- Stefano Calvigioni Talked about the pyramid of play in Italy, his relationship with pro clubs and highlighted the experience of a young Canadian talent at AS Rome.
For the youth, their overall message was very clear:
- Technique will always be the foundation of the futbol player.
- Age related training is fundamental.
- Higher frequency of training is essential.
- Competitions’ outcomes should reflect the development of the player.
On Saturday & Sunday, the ANB futbol complex at CDS hosted 80 athletes from all over Canada, for 2 days of practical sessions, small sided games, coordination/speed testing (results attached) & full sided games. Find below the coaches comments and recommendations:
- Coach Rodrigues; this was his sixth time in Canada; he was impressed with the improvement level of the ANB players and the good quality players that were from outside the academy specifically among the younger ages.
- Coach Du Moulin; seeing the younger player improvement level, he believes that it is a matter of time for North American players to close to gap.
- Coach Passi; said that the younger group 10 to 14 had players that are more talented than what he has seen in France, which is a good sign for the future. Young players must be monitored on a yearly basis.
- Coach Bennett; will be sending a scout to the Foyle Cup in Ireland (www.foylecup.com) & Keele Cup in the UK to follow on a list of specific players participating in this competition.
The outcome of the INT ID CAMP:
- One player has been formally invited to tryout in Marseille FC reserves in France. Details to follow in a press release.
- Another 2 players to be invited for a one year development at Annecy FC, partner club for Saint-Etienne, France. Details are being worked out as we speak.
- Several players born in 1999 & 1998 are short listed as potential future trialists. ANB to follow up with those players.
- Additional options available for players who are interested in trying out in France and Italy.
