Academy Cup Gets Underway
The opening game of the 2012 Academy Cup was played on a warm evening in Scarborough this past Saturday. Eurostar Football Academy (London) faced off against the RVDL Academy (Oakville) in the Quarterfinals of the Junior Boys (U14) SAAC Academy Cup.
The evenly matched teams traded goals in the first half and cancelled each other out for much of the second half, where most of the play was in the midfield. However, EFA slowly took over the game and scored the winner late in the second half, taking advantage of the short bench available to RVDL. Sepehr Dsarounparvar and Tyrone Mulder scored for Eurostar, while Jack van der Laan replied for RVDL.
Cup action continues this weekend as ANB Futbol will face Masters FA (12:30 pm, CDS) in an Intermediate Boys (U15) Quarterfinal. The remaining Quarterfinal matches in all three divisions will take place in July. The full schedule is available at saac.ca.
Semifinals will take place between August and October, with the three finals slated for November 17, 2012 at Esther Shiner Stadium
